“Sharing the experience with like-minded people and twice cycling further than I have ever done in one session before & enjoying it. Andy's drafting 'train' was great fun too! Also a personal achievement of swimming round the rock 4 times during the Aquathlon, something I would not have entertained at the beginning of the holiday but found inspiration & encouragement from fellow athletes and coaches which was invaluable”.

“A brilliant week with great planning, for example the duathlon and aquathon which added to the training experience with fun and competitiveness and encouraging working together in a team with other athletes we wouldn't necessarily have chosen ourselves. All in all made so good by your professionalism and enthusiasm with attention to detail for all abilities. I couldn't recommend you enough.”

“Loved it all but the open water swims were my top training sessions. Was a bit apprehensive about them especially the aquathlon but having a coach there helped massively as well as being in a small group. The whole trip was extremely well organised. It is obvious that alot of work and thought goes into each day. I liked the fact that you wanted to try out new sessions and didn't stick to the same schedule for every camp.”

“I really thought the bike mounting transition session was good with Graeme along with the natural running talk by Eric. Really enjoyed the trip and will try and return next year or before if I can arrange it.”

“Cycling 100km up Monchique (and staying on the bike!), not thinking about my normal life for a moment, just enjoying being myself, on a bike up a mountain (and general aerodynamics)... Before this week I'd never ridden more than about 15 miles, I'd only ridden my road bike outside 4 times and only once with road cleats. I feel bruised and battered but that hasn't put me off signing myself up to a 'Graeme' training plan (the man who doesn't appreciate there are only 7 days in a week)!”
|
|
 |
|
|
“I had an incredible week and will certainly be recommending the tri holiday to anyone who'll listen. I really appreciated you accommodating me as a complete novice, especially as I was sometimes pretty much a 'group' of my own! I genuinely think you've got the balance just right. I am so grateful for everything I've learned and would love to come back again (having put some hard work in first)!”.

“As the week progressed and the sessions got harder they also got better (at least, in my head) because I was pushing myself more and more each day. It felt like I reached a level each day that I couldn't have achieved the day before. I guess the word for this is endorphins. Learning to ride a road bike: Asics on day one; Asics plus toe clips on day two; proper shoes, cleats and pedals from day three onwards. Also learned about cadence and energy management, which is something I need to focus on. So thank you Graeme, Neil, Eric and Andy for a truly brilliant week.”

“Hitting my targets set by you guys on both the pacing session and the long run which left me glowing at the end of the week. These weeks are a great opportunity to get some lovely winter sun running and a fantastic opportunity to meet up with fellow runners. The new accommodation is simply amazing. I have to come back especially for the scones at Luz :-)”.

“Highlight was finishing last 15k of 35k long run at good pace at the end of a very heavy week. I liked the new appartment complex. The rooms, kitchen, showers and bath were good. It was also good being near the town and the coast and nice to start most of the runs from the complex. The swimming pool should be great a month nearer summer. I hope to be back soon, possibly in October”.

“I think all the coaches went above and beyond what was expected in terms of general hospitality, encouragement, knowledge around training. As I was travelling alone, the transfers were a real bonus and I think the all inclusive set up really helped the group to bond together. Don't know what else to add except a massive thank you”.

“I absolutely loved the trip as it has given me so much more confidence in my running ability and really spurred me on to tackle my last couple of months of training. I wouldn't hesitate to book again and I'm already trying to justify a week in the Autumn! I will definitely be singing your praises to all my running/tri friends! Thank you so much to all the coaches, it was awesome! :-)”

“Once again achieving more in a week than I thought possible - I definitely feel I am getting my fitness back after a spell of injury and illness. Also made some new friends I will hopefully stay in touch with. I am a bit nostalgic for the lovely villas we stayed in last year but it was really nice having the whole group together. The bigger pool and area for stretching also work well (not to mention the coffee machine)”.

"I got straight into an interval session the day after i flew home and just completed 4x1 mile tempo run along the canal, ( harder with no-one around to cheer me on!), and still within my times. Looking forward to getting faster and fitter and already feeling stronger both mentally and physically during the tough moments :-) Thanks for a great holiday, you guys rock, hope to see you all again next year when i will be a lean, mean running machine;-)!"

"This holiday was amazing! I can't reccomend it to anyone enough. The embracesports team were so professional and turned themselves inside out to accommodate each and everyone of us, nothing was too much trouble. For me the balance of hard training but excellent fun was perfect. I came home buzzing, joined the running club and finally found abit of confidence and self belief which has given me inspiration in all areas of my life not just running! Your guys enthusiasm and motivation is first class. I can't wait to come back!!!".

"I loved all the sessions! Among my favourites were: the ocean swim when we swam through the keyhole, the monchique mountains cycle and the run in praida de luz, and the ones i've thought about most since are the technique sessions of natural running, the transition bike/ run session and swimming in the olympic pool"

"It was fantastic to meet such a great bunch of supportive, enthusiastic, determined and good humoured people - the ideal environment for getting the most out of a week dedicated to training. Keep it up guys - you've got a real recipe for success. I'm certainly hoping to join you again in the near future and I'll be encouraging others to do the same. It's clear you love what you do and it was unanimous for everyone I met out there - we love what you do!".

"Thanks for yet another great holiday. Thanks especially to Kat for all her chauffeuring. Thanks for selecting a lovely group of runners to share the villas with. Our villas were great. Arriving in a cold Reading yesterday was a shock. Today was nice and sunny after the overnight frost and despite my heavy legs and the much more muddy conditions my time on the Sulham Woods 12.6K handicap was just over 2 minutes quicker than 2 weeks ago".
|
|
 |
|
|
"I loved all of the runs, well maybe not the hills so much, but the interval session was definitely the favourite for me as I beat the time I was set in all the reps and was surprised at how fast I managed to do them. Also loved the woodland run".

Very rewarding!"

Thanks to all of the coaches for making the trip what it was, and for helping me to regain my confidence and enjoyment of running. I am not sure I have laughed so much in one week and I will certainly be back next year. To anyone thinking about booking this holiday; stop thinking and just book it, you will not regret it!".

"I feel so much stronger, re-energised and inspired after my week of training? The Embrace team is/are the reason!they all gave me the confidence to do my best. "Everything about this week was amazing. After a couple of years out of racing I'd forgotten what it was like to really push myself to my limits and I've broken down so many mental barriers last week that I cannot wait to get back training and racing. One of the biggest highlights though is spending time with you guys, from GB's patience when I was having a paddy on the hills (again!), to Kat's yummy breakfasts, to Eric's never ending Eric-isms I have never worked and laughed so hard. It was to quote my favourite Eric-ism FUN FUN FUN!!!".

"Many thanks for an excellent week. I was not in the shape (running wise and anatomically wise) that I had planned when I booked. You got me going! After Saturday's travel (a day of rest) I did 150 min run on Sunday and found it easy".

|
|
 |
|
|
"There were many highlights but if I had to choose the best it would be the Monchique mountain bike ride on the last day, that was a very special day with the breath taking scenery, the smells of the eucalyptus the feeling of getting to the top and then arriving back at Gripple with some freshness in my legs :-) to give the young ones a bit of a challenge – an awesome day out finished off by Katy running with me during the brick off session".

The former was soon put to bed by you guys being so welcoming, friendly and made everybody feel right at home from the off. As for the latter you quickly ensured that everybody felt comfortable in the knowledge that they weren't expected to be a super hero to enjoy the trip and even though I felt fine from start to finish that still helped put me at ease".

"It ticked all the boxes. Training was 5 star, food was great, location was out of this world and most importantly the comapny of the other people of the camp and you guys made it a great week to be part of. Top individual moment was the last 2km of the the port de bale - incredible".

"Thanks Guys for a fabulous holiday. YOU 2 made it possible for me to join in and have all the experiences. eg I liked the 25 minute recovery jog- which allowed me to experience winning! You set me off FIRST on the bike ride around the block. You gave me confidence and assumed that I could try everything. You put in the extra mile to get me a road bike to try. Your teaching of biking and swimming were excellent. The adjustment you suggested to my freestyle glide, Neil, is making a real difference. I liked our bike group, especially coffee and croissant on the beach.I miss the buzz of the kitchen with everyone. See you at Upton Love janes".

I'll be back!!".

"Finding out that I am physically able to do more than I do.
Also, in terms of cycling it was good to have a slower group so I could building my cycling confidence. The week was excellent. I will be recommending it to friends who are fitter than I.
This was the best holiday I was ever on".

"I came along as a competition winner unsure what to expect from a training camp maybe lazy people and egos but i found none of that. It was a mix of people some new to triathlon but all talented in their own areas none of whom took themselves too seriously, some got a bit more serious on race day i'd be guilty of that! We all bonded well and will hopefully stay in touch and meet up at Events in the future".

It's a great area with lovely coast and of course the glorious weather really helped.
Those pizzas have to be a highlight too.....".

"The entire week was just fantastic, so well organised from start to finish. Having been on a previous holiday with you guys, this one was just as good if not better. Great variety of runs on different terrains from beach to woodland and I took full advantage this time of ensuring I went on all the recovery runs. To top it all off is the social aspect, the holiday allows you to meet new runners and make new friends."
|
|
 |
|
|
"I really enjoyed the week, at first I was a bit nervous as I'm a really slow runner and I was worried about being left behind or holding others up. However, this was not the case - the support was fantastic as was the encouragement of everyone and I made many friends as well as achieve a milestone running distance for me. Along with Robert my non-runner husband) we managed to fit in my training and visit the area at the same time and feel like we'd had a holiday that we'd both enjoyed. Return trip is in the planning!!"

"I loved the holiday - I think my highlight was finding out that I could get up every day and run, and run hills, and run twice in a day. I'd never done any of these things before. I also found the structure of each day - and the week itself - both restful and stretching. The Embrace team made it feel effortless and laidback, though clearly a lot of work was going on behind the scenes to maintain that feeling. From my perspective the model is just right, please don't change it!".

"I really enjoyed the training sessions (yes, all of them), it was great to get out running in such beautiful locations with people who enjoy it as much as I do. It reminded me of why I love running and it didn't actually feel like "training" at all. It made me realise how spoilt we were, when I didn't get home from work tonight until 6.30pm, had to get dinner started and then go out for a 16 km run (finishing with 5 x 400m reps) in the dark and the cold! How I wanted to be back in Lagos".

The runs (that I was able to do!) were great fun, the villa is still brilliant, the people were great and you two go out your way to make sure everyone is catered for (not just in the food sense of the word!). After years of saying I will never do a triathlon I'm actually contemplating it now...what have you done to me!?!".

We had a lovely, friendly group who made the week really good fun. I loved the coastal run from Luz to Burgao - I really enjoyed all the runs. I was slightly apprehensive going into the holiday as I was travelling on my own and had concerns about my running ability. Will spend some time over the next few days thinking back to the Col D'Aspin, that gravelly 20% short climb, the 18.6km slog up Tourmalet, the crazy never ending descents, the beautiful views, the lovely food. Neil – the whole week ran like clock work, the food (and shopping) was great, there was no waiting around and for me the balance was right between training 3-6 hours a day and having the time to chill / recover. "Reaching the top of Tourmalet, to the congrats from the rest of the crew - self satisfaction doubled through team spirit. Awesome! The flexible, relaxed, personal approach that you create works really well I thought, so try and keep that no matter how much bigger you grow! ;-)".

"In general, the cycling. Taking in 2 historic Tour climbs was very satisfying - once the summits were reached! :-) But I've ben wanting to to do road / hill biking abroad for some time, so it was great, and being lead with leaders who had "sat nav" was good, as it didn't involve stopping to look at maps.".

"Thank you again for an amazing week. I'm a training camp groupie, and yours was the best overall experience I've had so far. I genuinely hope you continue to expand, and I'll keep you guys in mind when planning next year's adventure. I will be comparing all future camps to yours, and you've set a very high standard."

Loved swimming in the sea and some of the fast rides.
Nice bunch of people and enjoyed the fact that Neil and Graeme were out there doing the same and putting the work in too. Brilliant break - good honest group motivated training and well orchastrated by the Embrace team!"

"Where do I start, the entire week's holiday was simply amazing. From the variety of terrains for our runs; Woodland Trails, Beach Runs, Clifftop and Town to the wonderful food and drink and to top it all a great social group of runners. Thanks to your help guys the long run around Lagos at the end has nicely made me revise what may be possible for my marathon. I'm still buzzing now!".

There's nothing better than having a holiday which makes you feel really good about yourself and show you what you can achieve with a bit of coercing and encouragement! I will definitely plan to come back as soon as possible!
Thanks so much for giving me my confidence back".

"Despite getting injured on the first day i thought that the whole holiday was amazing. Great training, great people, great villa, great food and great beer. I was impressed by the relaxed atmosphere and the way in which advice and motivation was given. A quiet word over a beer or dinner or a comment as Graeme sped past me!
My running mindset has changed in a very positive way....be back next year!".

"Having spent a week having some average and poor runs, to blast the 10 miles pace setting with Kate & Tilly showed me something I'd never done before: eye opening! Oh yes, and learning that standing thigh deep in an ice cold swimming pool can be fun: I'd never have believed it a week before!!". A fantastic week, Team Mosquito is planning to return in September.

I liked the easygoing/informal nature of the holiday despite having done at least 2x my usual weekly mileage and the different training sessions like beach/woodland/road etc.

"(the highlight) Would be pretty difficult to choose really. 1. Ocean swimming to wake up in the morning. 2. Proving to myself I could actually cycle >100km (Monchique hill ride). 3. "There was more included than I was expecting! The food, company and most importantly the running/training all exceeded my expectations. The most eye opening thing for me was realising my running ability. For me it was the perfect combination of training and 'holidaying' and both Neil and Graeme went out their way to make sure that we were all catered for - their enthusiasm was infectious. The hard work and thought put into organising these holidays and making sure they work is more than evident".

"I loved the beach run, also the coastal runs, the challenge was really funny, lying by the pool was bliss, the villa, the barby’s & the food. Last but not least, everyone there. I feel a lot more confident about pushing myself and am really keen to sign up for a few races and work on building up the speed which I must admit I had never really tried before. I’ve already had a new pb since I got back :-)".

“It was a really relaxed & fun week - we had the core sessions where we worked hard but also plenty of time to just chill out. I've never run 60 miles in a week before but the variety of sessions kept me motivated. Beforehand I wasn't sure whether I would enjoy being in the villa as last year I'd loved Club La Santa & the crowds but this was perfect, was great to be able to come & go as we pleased, grab a drink & bite to eat etc.”

"I hadn't cycled in a big group before and really enjoyed working as a team. Both the climb up and rollercoaster down Monchique were equally epic. I really enjoyed the ocean swimming, it has given me a lot of confidence that Barcelona will be ok. The coastal runs were great, and seemed to fly by."

But my fears were forgotten and I had the BEST time from day 1 :) Lots of "1sts" for me - 1st off road run, 1st track session, 1st beach run and my longest run so far. I really enjoyed the relaxed and friendly set up of the holiday and I hope that the next one lives up to it...!"

This week proved to me that I'm pretty insane -I've been training in the same way for years and been surprised I've not improved.
